Police have launched investigations after an unknown intruder broke into offices at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) headquarters at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 4, 2026, at about 12:50am, police said.

Night guards securing the KCAA building heard the sound of shattering glass coming from Paul Caffee, located on the ground floor of the building.

As the guards moved to establish what had happened, they reportedly saw an unidentified person jumping over the perimeter fence and escaping.

Police officers who visited the scene established that the intruder had gained access to the building through a window before entering the Human Resources office and the Employees Relations and Welfare office.

The suspect also accessed the National Continuous Monitoring Coordination office but reportedly did not steal anything from there.

Police said the suspect then fled the premises after breaking into the offices.

Scene-of-crime personnel visited the building and processed the scene for evidence as detectives began investigations to establish the identity of the intruder and determine what was stolen.

Police have not disclosed the value of property or items reported missing as investigations continue.
