Joshua Morrissey is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman born on March 28, 1995, in Calgary, Alberta.
He plays for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL), where he serves as an alternate captain.
Known for his smooth skating, offensive instincts from the blue line, and two-way play, Morrissey has developed into one of the league’s top defencemen.
Siblings
Josh has one sibling, a younger brother named Jake Morrissey.
The two brothers grew up playing hockey together, often shooting pucks in the garage or basement under the guidance of their late father, Tom Morrissey.
Jake followed Josh into competitive hockey and joined him briefly in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Kelowna Rockets.
Their close bond and shared passion for the game were central to their upbringing, with their father frequently referring to them affectionately as The Three Morrissey Boys.
Career
Morrissey played junior hockey with the Prince Albert Raiders and later the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL, where he excelled both on the ice and in the classroom, earning Scholastic Player of the Year honors.
The Winnipeg Jets selected him 13th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
