The Jubilee Party has named Wilson Kigwa as its candidate for the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Jubilee Party Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta said the party had concluded its internal consultations and nomination process ahead of the mini poll.
According to Kenta, the party received applications from several aspirants across the constituency, which he said reflected continued confidence in the party and its political agenda.
“The party received applications from several qualified and committed aspirants from across the constituency, demonstrating the continued confidence that the people of Ol Kalou have in the Jubilee Party and its vision for the future of our nation,” the statement said.
Kenta said the party settled on Kigwa following consultations guided by the party constitution, the National Elections Board and other relevant party organs.
“Through our party’s constitution, the guidance of the National Elections Board and other relevant party organs, and in consultation with the aspirants who qualified, the party has settled on Eng. Wilson Kigwa, who will now fly the party flag in the forthcoming by-election,” the statement added.
The secretary general said Jubilee was fully prepared for the contest and would intensify grassroots mobilisation in the constituency.
“Jubilee Party remains stronger, more focused and more prepared than ever before. We are fully mobilised and ready to engage the people of Ol Kalou with a message of hope, development, unity and accountable leadership,” Kenta said.
He added that party leaders, grassroots officials and supporters would campaign vigorously for the candidate while popularising the party’s renewed agenda.
Kenta also urged residents to continue supporting Jubilee, noting that the late area Member of Parliament had served under the party ticket.
“It is important to remember that the late Member of Parliament served under the Jubilee Party ticket, and we remain committed to protecting and advancing the legacy of service, development and people-centred leadership that he stood for,” he said.
The announcement comes days after Sammy Ngotho secured the DCP party ticket to contest the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat.
Jubilee had previously called on opposition parties to rally behind its candidate in the by-election.
