A 19-year-old student at Katine Technical Training College was found dead in a dam in Katine Village, Matungulu Sub-County, Machakos County.
The deceased, identified as Brian Makau Kyulu, was reported missing after leaving home for school on Friday, September 25, 2026, but failed to return home that evening.
According to police report, his family reported him missing at Tala Police Station on Saturday morning.
The family later received information that the student’s clothes, a radio and a mobile phone had been found on the banks of a dam in Katine.
Police officers visited the scene and recovered Makau’s body from the dam.
Police said blood and foam were visible around his mouth and nose, while no visible injuries were found on the body.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Machakos Funeral Home, where it is awaiting an autopsy to establish the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, police said on Sunday.
And a 61-year-old man was found dead inside a 10-foot-deep water well in Juja, Kiambu County, after he reportedly left home to fetch water and failed to return.
The deceased, identified as Samuel Waithaka Njogu, was found inside the open well on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Juja Farm.
Waithaka left his rented house at about 9:30pm on Friday to fetch water from the well, located approximately 150 metres from their residence.
He did not return, prompting concern among his colleagues.
At around 10am on Saturday, one of his workmates went to the same well to fetch water and noticed a blue plastic jerrycan similar to the one Waithaka had reportedly carried floating on the water.
Upon looking into the well, he saw Waithaka’s body submerged inside and immediately alerted neighbours and the police.
Preliminary police findings indicated that Waithaka may have slipped and fallen into the well, where he drowned with no one nearby to rescue him.
CSI officers processed and documented the scene before the body was retrieved.
The body, which had no visible physical injuries, was moved to Thika General Kago Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man drowned in River Mwanzai in Chonyi, Kilifi County, after he reportedly suffered a seizure while bathing in the river.
The deceased, identified as Futu Mwanjele, was found dead in the river on Saturday morning, September 26, 2026.
Futu reportedly had a history of epilepsy and was undergoing medication.
Police said he is believed to have suffered an epileptic seizure while in the water, causing him to fall and hit his head on rocks before drowning.
Police visited the scene, where the incident was documented.
The body was subsequently moved to Kilifi County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
