In February 2025, Ken Mijungu exited KTN News after four years.

Further, Mijungu’s new home has taken over KTN News spot on DSTV.

Mijungu’s move comes as Cape Media announced the official launch of Africa’s first fully integrated All-IP Broadcasting Studios, setting a new benchmark in the media industry. This cutting-edge facility harnesses the latest IP-based technology to enhance efficiency, flexibility, and seamless integration across radio, television, and digital platforms.

Built on a 100% IP infrastructure, the new studios eliminate traditional broadcast limitations, allowing for seamless synchronization across multiple production environments. This revolutionary setup optimizes operational efficiency, streamlines workflows, and ensures uninterrupted content delivery, reinforcing Cape Media’s commitment to innovation.

“This project is more than a studio upgrade; it represents a transformation in African broadcasting,” said Fred Martin Kiwalabye, Head Engineer at Cape Media Ltd.

“By adopting a fully IP-based workflow, we are building a scalable, adaptable, and future-proof media platform that sets new industry standards.”

Speaking at the launch event, Mwenda Njoka, CEO of Cape Media Ltd, emphasized the organization’s commitment to digital transformation: “The introduction of this ultra-modern studio is a significant milestone for Cape Media.

It enhances our ability to deliver high-quality content while providing advertisers with a superior engagement platform. This investment affirms our vision for the future of digital broadcasting.”

Geoffrey Mung’ou, Head of Radio at Cape Media Ltd, highlighted the strategic importance of this advancement: “Our new state-of-the-art studio underscores our commitment to delivering premium radio content. The Cape Media Board of Directors echoed this sentiment, stating: “The launch of this world-class studio aligns with our vision to be a leader in the broadcasting industry. This investment enables us to meet the highest standards of content production and expand our reach to a broader audience.”

Ranked third among Kenya’s top five national Swahili stations, according to the Q4 2024 IPSOS Report, Radio47 has rapidly gained prominence in under two years. As the station approaches its second anniversary in March 2025, this investment positions it for greater reach and impact, offering superior sound quality, seamless live broadcasts, and an engaging multimedia experience across multiple platforms.

This technological advancement also presents significant opportunities for advertisers. The ultra-modern studio empowers brands to leverage superior audio clarity, interactive programming, and digital integration to maximize audience engagement. Enhanced live-streaming capabilities and targeted advertising solutions will enable businesses to connect more effectively with their target demographics, ensuring higher return on investment and brand visibility.

The launch event was attended by leading media personalities, industry stakeholders, and government representatives, all celebrating this transformative milestone in Kenya’s broadcasting landscape.
