    Kenyan Jazz Musician Christine Kamau Set To Dazzle Cameroon

    Kenyan Trumpeter Christine Kamau is set represent Kenya for two days at the the 20th Yaounde’ Jazz Festival in Cameroon.

    Ms. Kamau makes history as the first East African Jazz Musician to play at the 20-year jazz festival that runs from 14th – 16th this month.

    Yaounde Jazz festival is Cameroon’s oldest and most prestigious jazz event held at the Cameroon Cultural Center. The festival which began in 1997, is an annual event and has featured jazz greats from across the world.

    Spanning her impressive  career, she has performed at significant jazz events including The Jahazi Literary & Jazz Festival (Zanzibar), Capital Jazz Festival (Nigeria) and ‘A night of Jazz’ at MASA festival, (Ivory Coast). She headlined the Kigali Jazz Junction (Rwanda) in February 2017, becoming the first Kenyan to grace that stage.

    A keen collaborator and a campaigner for music as tool for propagating unity, Ms Kamau has worked with various musicians on and off stage with her most notable live-performance collaborations being with renowned Ghanaian Jazz Guitarist Komla Young.

    “I am excited to be heading back to West Africa this November. I am glad to be giving the continent a taste of my music. This Africa tour has been more of a musical pilgrimage; it has been great getting to collaborate and explore the continent music-wise. I am looking forward to working on my new album in 2018 and hope to reflect the sounds experienced on this incredible journey’’, she told Kahawa Tungu
