Kenyans have opposed the Anti Mugging squad that governor Mike Sonko has put in place to curb the increased menace of mugging in broad daylight.

Kenyans have questioned the qualifications of this purported squad and where they would be drawn from. They have also questioned the training that this squad have to be able to curb the menace.

Kenyans have argued that the squad would create a lot of confusion in the city rather than address the issue of mugging. They have created memes to illustrate the type of confusion that will occur with all these units that are meant to fight the crime.

Some Kenyans have blamed the Sonko rescue team of being responsible for the increased number of mugging. They have alluded that he failed to pay them but had already brought then in the city so they found another source of income.

You've not paid your Sonko Rescue Whoever…you brought them to CBD in the name of clearing garbage & they found new revenue stream: Mugging

Sonko Rescue team protested unpaid salary,Two weeks later CBD "is full of gangs" ,A week later Sonko recruits "anti-Mugging squad" .Hopefully they'll be paid

It is still not clear what the parameters of this anti mugging squad would have and the extent to which they would be involved in order to reduce mugging in the city. Would they have a right to arrest ?

Kenyans have blamed the hawker invasion in the city as the main cause of muggings in Nairobi.
