The Orange Democratic Movement’s congratulatory message to Jubilee candidate’s victory in the Wajir West by-election has received its share of criticism.

Ahmed Kolosh was on Friday morning announced the winner of the Wajir West by election after garnering 11,053 votes against Kanu’s Sheikh Ibrahim who managed 6,532 votes.

Following Jubilee’s triumph, the ODM party congratulated Kolosh, saying the party was happy to have shaped his political ambitions.

“Congratulations Hon. Ahmed Kolosh on recapturing the Wajir West parliamentary seat. We are glad to have been associated with you and introduced to serious politics. Time to serve your people now, ” the ODM party posted on its official twitter handle.

In a harsh rejoinder, Kenyans on Twitter bashed ODM’s move to associate themselves with Jubilee’s victory.

Some termed the move desperate, with some alluding that the party was on its death bed.

Prior to the mini polls, the ODM party announced that it had withdrawn from the race after in-depth deliberations with the Jubilee party.

The party announced the move, which was widely termed cowardly, after a humbling defeat in the party’s stronghold Ugenya constituency and Embakasi South.

Then, ODM candidate Mohamed Yufus, would later announce his stepping aside while at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen residence during a luncheon with leaders from his clan.

The stepping down was attributed to DP Ruto’s intervention.

Sensing a humiliation, ODM reportedly rushed to issue a statement that it had withdrawn from the mini polls.

Check out how Kenyans reacted after the Friday message.

Yaani hapa ndio 'handshake' imewafikisha? This is too low. Like you are struggling to be recognised, honestly from my own view, this message isn't any necessary. I will pretend I didnt see it, i didnt read it.

We've beaten you when you were in the ballot at Ugenya and Embakasi South. We have even beaten you after withdrawing. God was not happy after your withdrawal. #WajirWestDecides
