    List of Accredited Institutions Offering Law Courses in Kenya for 2026

    The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has released the official list of accredited institutions licensed to offer law programmes in Kenya for the 2026 academic year, while also identifying universities with pending applications for accreditation.

    In a notice issued on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Busalile Jack Mwimali, said only four institutions are currently licensed to offer the Master of Laws (LL.M.) programme, while 16 institutions are accredited to offer the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and four institutions are licensed to offer the Diploma in Law programme.

    According to the Council, the institutions approved to offer the Master of Laws (LL.M.) programme are Kenyatta University School of Law, Strathmore Law School, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Faculty of Law, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) School of Law.

    The institutions accredited to offer the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme are Umma University School of Law, Chuka University Faculty of Law, Tharaka University School of Law, Zetech University School of Law, Tom Mboya University School of Law, Daystar University School of Law (Athi River Campus), University of Embu School of Law, Kisii University School of Law, Mount Kenya University School of Law (Parklands Campus), Riara Law School, Kenyatta University School of Law, JKUAT School of Law, Catholic University of Eastern Africa Faculty of Law, Strathmore Law School, Maseno University School of Law, and South Eastern Kenya University School of Law.

    For the Diploma in Law programme, the Council approved Mount Kenya University School of Law (Parklands Campus), Kisii University School of Law, Kenya School of Law, and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa Faculty of Law.

    The Council also disclosed that several institutions have applications pending for licensing as legal education providers.

    The universities seeking accreditation to offer the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme include Egerton University Faculty of Law, Kabarak University School of Law, Africa Nazarene University School of Law, Moi University School of Law, University of Nairobi Faculty of Law (Parklands Campus), Rongo University School of Law, Kenya Methodist University School of Law, Murang’a University of Technology School of Law, and Mount Kenya University School of Law.

    The Council said the list reflects the legal education providers licensed as of July 2026 and is intended to guide prospective students and the public on institutions authorised to offer recognised law programmes in Kenya.
