A 48-year-old lorry driver died after being electrocuted when his truck’s trailer came into contact with an overhead live electricity cable along Kibra Drive Road in Nairobi.

The deceased, identified as Johana Njiri, was working as a subcontracted driver for China Roads and Bridge Corporation, which is undertaking operations along the road near BM Security.

According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at around noon as Njiri operated a Tata tipper truck while offloading murram at the construction site.

In the process, the truck’s trailer accidentally touched an overhead electricity transmission cable, sending an electric current through the vehicle and striking the driver.

He was immediately rushed to Mbagathi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers who visited both the scene and the hospital confirmed the incident and established that the deceased had no visible external injuries.

The body was subsequently moved to Mbagathi Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

And a five-year-old boy has drowned after falling into an abandoned dam along the Piai-Itangi Road in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County.

The deceased was reportedly playing with other children on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, when he slipped and fell into the water-filled dam at around noon.

He was rescued and rushed to Murinduko Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers who visited the health facility confirmed the death and observed that the child’s body had no visible external injuries.

Officers subsequently visited the scene and established that the dam had been abandoned by a Chinese company that was undertaking construction of the Piai-Itangi Road.

The scene was documented before the body was moved to Embu County Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Police have documented the incident as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the drowning and the safety of the abandoned excavation site.
