    Career

Maia’s career took off when she was cast as Brittany Flune in the Australian children’s series Mortified at the age of 12.

The show’s success opened doors to roles in other Australian productions like Trapped and its sequel Castaway, where she played the memorable Natasha Hamilton.

Her transition to Hollywood came with a guest appearance on Disney Channel’s Jessie, followed by her starring role as McKenzie “Mack” Fox in the hit Disney Channel Original Movies Teen Beach Movie (2013) and Teen Beach 2 (2015), alongside Ross Lynch.

However, it was her portrayal of Callie Adams Foster in the Freeform drama The Fosters (2013–2018) that cemented her status as a global star.

The role, which she reprised in the spin-off Good Trouble (2019–2024), showcased her ability to tackle complex, emotional characters.

Maia also ventured into producing with Good Trouble, though she stepped away from the main cast in 2022 to return to Australia during the flood crisis, later making guest appearances.

In 2023, she captivated audiences as Lady Belle Fox in Disney+’s The Artful Dodger, a role she’ll reprise in the recently announced second season.

    Accolades

Maia has earned nominations for eight Teen Choice Awards, recognizing her performances in The Fosters, Good Trouble, Teen Beach 2, and The Last Summer.

Her role in The Fosters also garnered acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of a foster child raised by a same-sex couple, contributing to the show’s cultural impact.
