Police in Lang’ata sub-county, Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father to death following a dispute over the preparation of ugali.

Police said Joseph Okello, 70, met his untimely death in Mugumoini location after a bitter confrontation with his son, Peter Olwenye, over the cooking process of the staple meal on Saturday night.

Witnesses said the deceased questioned his son’s decision to begin preparing ugali using water that had not sufficiently boiled.

The disagreement reportedly escalated after the father challenged the logic behind his son’s cooking method, leading to a deadly altercation.

The assailant picked a knife and fatally stabbed the man.

Police said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident and may have been under the influence of drugs at the time.

Police said the victim died on the spot after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the back and neck.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures while the hunt on the assailant goes on.

And a member of the street family was burnt to death in a fire incident in Mowlem, Nairobi.

The deceased was identified as Richard Wanjiru, 33. He was sheltering in a house in the area when it caught fire on Sunday dawn. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Kehancha, Kuria, Migori County, a man and his 10-year-old daughter were shot and injured in a robbery incident.

The two had arrived home on Saturday evening after closing their shop in the Kwiriba area when they were confronted by gunmen.

The man was shot in the stomach while the girl was hit in the hand. Police said the gang grabbed three button phones used in Mpesa business and escaped. It is not clear how much money was in the mobile phones. The injured were rushed to the hospital in a stable condition, police said.

The hunt on the gang is ongoing, police said on Monday.
