A man surrendered to the local police officials and confessed he had killed his girlfriend following an altercation in Sondu, Kericho County.

He told police he had argued with the woman in his house before he strangled her. She died in the house.

Police accompanied the suspect to the said scene of crime and found the body of Sharon Chepkirui, 25, lying dead on a sofa set.

The police had to break into the house where they found the body of the woman with a scarf tied around her neck.

The woman had visited the man at his house on December 12 for a weekend sleepover when the incident happened.

The man surrendered to the police on Tuesday night saying he had killed the woman. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

The suspect was Wednesday expected in court to face murder charges, police said.

Elsewhere, detectives are investigating an incident where the body of a 50-year-old man was found dumped on the roadside after murder in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

The man had been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene, police said of the Tuesday incident.

The body had fractures on both limbs.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

No arrest had been made on Wednesday and police said they were pursuing possible leads on the same.

Meanwhile, police in the Buruburu area, Nairobi are investigating an incident where a man was found dead in his house. Bernard Matati had failed to report to work and could not be reached, which raised concerns among his colleagues.

They went to check on him when they found him lying on bed unresponsive.

There were no visible injuries on the body when it was discovered on Tuesday.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
