Police on Sunday night gunned down a man suspected of kidnapping  a girl in the sprawling Kiandutu slums, Thika.

The suspect, 32-year-old Dennis Kimani Mwitheri better known by locals as Denno was traced by the officers following a tip-off from members of public.

During the operation, police recovered a pistol with four rounds of ammunition.

Mwitheri is said to have brandished the pistol at officers after they caught up with him.

Kiambu County Police Commander Ali Nuno confirmed the incident, describing him as a dangerous criminal.

“The girls’ parents reported them missing on May 2 and, following intense investigations by our officers, they were traced to the suspect’s house in Kiandutu,” said the police boss.
