    Siblings

Marina is one of five siblings, all of whom share a deep connection to basketball, creating a remarkable family legacy in the sport.

Roy Mabrey, the eldest sibling, played college basketball at NCAA Division II Saint Anselm College.

Known for his long-range shooting, he made 263 three-pointers during his career, setting a strong precedent for the family’s sharpshooting reputation.

Michaela Mabrey, Marina’s older sister, also attended Notre Dame, where she played for the Fighting Irish women’s basketball team.

She appeared in three Final Fours and contributed 228 three-pointers during her collegiate tenure.

After graduating, Michaela transitioned into coaching and currently serves as the director of recruiting for the LSU women’s basketball program.

Dara Mabrey, the younger sister, followed a slightly different path, starting her college career at Virginia Tech before transferring to Notre Dame.

A prolific shooter, she has made 301 three-pointers in her college career, surpassing both Marina and Michaela in that category.

    Career

Marina’s basketball journey began at Manasquan High School, where she led her team to two state Tournament of Champions titles and earned co-MVP honors at the 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Her success drew attention from top colleges, and she ultimately chose Notre Dame, joining her sister Michaela on the Fighting Irish roster.

At Notre Dame, Marina blossomed into a star. She played a pivotal role in the team’s 2018 NCAA Championship win, averaging 14.4 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game during that season.

Known for her clutch performances, she graduated in 2019 as Notre Dame’s all-time leader in made three-pointers with 274, alongside 1,896 career points, ranking eighth in program history.

Drafted 19th overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2019 WNBA Draft, Marina began her professional career as a backup shooting guard, averaging 4.0 points per game in her rookie season.

She was traded to the Dallas Wings in 2020, where her role expanded, and she averaged 10.0 points per game in a pandemic-shortened season.

Marina’s career continued to evolve with stints at the Chicago Sky (2023) and eventually the Connecticut Sun (2024), where she has solidified her reputation as a high-volume three-point shooter, averaging 14.9 points per game in the latter half of the 2024 season with the Sun.

Beyond the WNBA, Marina has showcased her versatility internationally, playing for teams like TTT Riga (Latvia), Bnot Hertzeliya (Israel), Perth Lynx (Australia), and Beretta Famila Schio (Italy), where she won titles and further honed her craft.
