Michelle Yvonne Hunziker is a Swiss-Italian television presenter, former model, actress, and entertainer born on 24 January 1977 in Sorengo, near Lugano in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
Her mother, Ineke, and her father, Rudolf Hunziker (a Swiss-German painter who also worked in hotel management and died of a heart attack in 2001), raised her initially in the Ticino region.
The family later moved to the German-speaking part of Switzerland, including Ostermundigen near Bern and then Zuchwil in the canton of Solothurn after her parents’ separation.
At around age 17 she relocated to Italy with her mother to pursue modeling, eventually gaining Italian citizenship.
Fluent in multiple languages, she has built a high-profile career primarily in Italian television while also working in German-language media and maintaining strong ties to Switzerland.
Siblings
Michelle has two brothers. Her older full brother is Harold Hunziker, born in 1970 in Switzerland to the same parents.
Harold has largely stayed out of the public eye.
He spent many years in management roles, including operational leadership positions with McDonald’s in Switzerland and Italy, before moving into independent entrepreneurship in the restaurant sector, notably opening a Panino Giusto location in Geneva, where he resides.

She also has a half-brother, Andrea Hunziker, born from her father’s earlier relationship with another woman before his marriage to Ineke.
Michelle learned of his existence later in life, around age 31, and they initially made contact.
Career
Hunziker began as a fashion and commercial model after moving to Milan in her mid-teens, working with agencies and appearing for brands including Giorgio Armani, Rocco Barocco, La Perla, and others.
A notable early campaign for the lingerie brand Roberta brought her wider attention in Italy.
She entered television in the mid-1990s, appearing on programs such as Buona Domenica and gaining presenting opportunities.
Early hosting credits included I cervelloni with Paolo Bonolis on Rai Uno, Paperissima Sprint, Colpo di fulmine, Zelig, Scherzi a parte, and Festivalbar.
She became a regular on Striscia la notizia and co-hosted major events including the Festival di Sanremo (notably in 2007 and again in 2018).
In German-speaking markets she co-hosted the early seasons of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, appeared on Wetten, dass..? with Thomas Gottschalk, and took on other entertainment formats.
Additional work has included music (an album titled Lole), acting roles, and more recent Italian shows such as All Together Now and specials.
In 2025 she co-hosted the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel alongside Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer.
