The Directorate of Veterinary Services under the State Department for Livestock Development in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has announced internship opportunities for veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals who graduated in 2025 or earlier.

In a public notice on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the ministry said the internship is a statutory requirement under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act, No. 29 of 2011, Sections 15 (1) and 17 (1).

“Internship will be guided by the Internship Policy and Guidelines for the Public Service, the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Regulations of 2013, and the Kenya Veterinary Board Internship Guidelines,” the statement read.

The internship program is expected to begin in January 2026, and the deadline for applications is November 14, 2025.

Applicants are required to have a Certificate of Training (BVM, BSc, Diploma, or Certificate level) from universities or training institutions recognized by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB), along with copies of their KCSE and KCPE certificates, national ID, birth certificate, KRA PIN, certificate of good conduct, NHIF card, personal accident insurance cover, bank account details, and two recent passport-size photographs.

Interested candidates must first register with the Kenya Veterinary Board as interns by visiting www.kenyavetboard.or.ke.

After obtaining the certificate of registration as an intern, applicants should apply to the Director of Veterinary Services by filling out their personal details in an online form available at https://forms.gle/8hhnFrPZdG5GupxY6.

The ministry noted that further information, including the placement date for successful applicants, will be communicated via the email addresses provided in the application form.
