Could controversial NGO Boss Fazul Mohammed be still in office against labour laws even as his three years term expires in less than a fortnight?
This is the argument of Okiya Omtatah led Kenyans for Justice and Development trust (KEJUDE) which has today written to Ministry of Interior and Coordination, Public Service Commission and the Attorney General seeking to have Mr. Mohamed sent on a terminal leave immediately and the position advertised. The letter reads,
“Mr. Fazul Mohammed’s three-year tenure expires on 23rd November or thereabout. However, contrary to public policy and law, instead of proceeding on terminal leave, he remains in active service and the existing vacancy at the NGO board has not been advertised”.

KAJUDE wants an acting Executive Director appointed as the Ministry commences the process of appointing a new NGO boss “strictly according to the law.”
Omtatah has given acing Interior CS 14 days to act or face a recourse adding that the government has refused to operationalize The Public Benefits Operation Act No. 18 of 2013 thus making it impossible for stakeholders to appoint the independent members to NGO board.
“As a result, Mr. Mohammed has single-handedly mismanaged the affairs of the NGO without supervision.”
