Pastor Godfrey Migwi from House of Hope Church in Kayole has published a video on Facebook calling on Women Representatives and other female leaders in the country to leave their bossy behaviour expressed in public.

Pastor Migwi was responding to a video posted online by Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru, who bashed Sunshine Upperhill Hotel, which denied her entry into the hotel for lack of a marriage certificate.

“Our women leaders are doing things which are not good. We elected them to work, not to catwalk in the country talking about hotel owners and petty issues. You cannot go to a media house and start condemning a person who is doing his/her own business,” said Pastor Migwi, telling off Hon Waruguru.

The man of cloth told the hotel owner not to worry, as he was doing his job. He says that every business has rules and regulations, which every leader should adhere to no matter what position s/he holds in the society.

“Being a leader doesn’t mean that you are above the law. It doesn’t mean you can do what you want or enter wherever you want. So our women leaders should change and focus to the work that Kenyans gave them,” said Pastor Migwi.

The Church leader called for a referendum that would scrap off the post of Women Representatives from the constitution for their abuse of office.

“Leadership is not about commanding, leadership is about caring. Leadership is about humbling yourself. The constitution should be changed so that whoever wants to lead goes to the grassroots and asks for votes. We do not need a constitution that gives special treatment to this or that, because we are all equal before God,” he added.

The clergy said that the women reps are behaving the way they want since they know that the seats are reserved for them.

In 2012, former Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza was forced out of office for brandishing a gun to a security guard, Rebecca Kerubo, after she insisted on checking her purse.

Recently, Ms Shollei tabled a Constitutional Amendment Bill seeking to scrap the Woman Representative seat and increase the number of women to Parliament through election — not party nomination.
