    Early Life

Raj Bhakta was born in December 1975 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of a Gujarati Indian father from Nansad near Surat and an Irish American mother.

He grew up in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and attended The Hill School before enrolling at Boston College, where he graduated in 1998.

How Raj Bhakta Built His Net Worth

Bhakta began his professional career in finance after graduating from Boston College in 1998 with a degree in economics and history. He initially worked at the investment banking firm Violy & Co. in New York.

He later founded the technology startup Automovia, a company focused on the valuation of pre-owned vehicles. Bhakta also led the Apex Vail redevelopment project in Colorado, a major condominium development initiative that contributed to his early business success.

However, his largest financial breakthrough came from the spirits industry.

    WhistlePig Whiskey

Raj Bhakta founded WhistlePig, a premium rye whiskey brand that quickly gained popularity in the high-end spirits market. The brand launched officially in 2010 and helped revive interest in American rye whiskey.

In 2019, Bhakta sold his stake in WhistlePig. At the time, the company was valued at several hundred million dollars, significantly boosting his personal wealth.

The proceeds from the sale allowed Bhakta to invest heavily in real estate and new ventures, including:

    • A 1,000-acre ranch in Vero Beach, Florida
    • A 700-acre farm in Vermont
    • A 500-acre orchard in Vermont
    • An 18th-century château in the Armagnac region of France
    • The 400-acre campus of Green Mountain College
    • One of the world’s largest supplies of aged Armagnac brandy

    Launch of Bhakta Spirits

After exiting WhistlePig, Bhakta launched a new luxury spirits company, Bhakta Spirits.

The company focuses on rare and aged brandies sourced from France’s historic Armagnac region. Bhakta acquired a large collection of vintage Armagnac dating from 1868 to 1970, using the rare stock to create premium blends.

His flagship product, BHAKTA 50, debuted in 2020 as part of his plan to revive interest in traditional Armagnac spirits.

    Reality TV Fame

Raj Bhakta gained national attention after appearing on the second season of The Apprentice, hosted by Donald Trump.

His outspoken personality and distinctive bow-tie style made him a memorable contestant. Although he was eliminated in the ninth week, the show significantly boosted his public profile.

Following the show, Bhakta frequently appeared as a political commentator on networks such as:

    • CNN
    • Fox News
    • MSNBC

    Political Career

In 2006, Bhakta ran as a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 13th congressional district.

He ultimately lost the race to Democratic incumbent Allyson Schwartz. Despite the defeat, his campaign attracted national media attention due to his unconventional campaign tactics and celebrity profile.

    Personal Life

Bhakta married Danhee Kim in 2013 after the two met while she worked as his executive assistant. The couple later moved from Vermont to Vero Beach, Florida.
