    Career

Bensebaini began his football journey in his hometown of Constantine before joining the youth academy of Paradou AC in Algiers at age 12.

He made his senior debut for Paradou in 2013 and soon gained attention with trials at clubs like Porto and Arsenal.

His move to Europe started with a loan to Belgian side Lierse in 2014, followed by another loan to Montpellier in France.

In 2016, he signed permanently with Rennes, where he developed into a reliable defender and contributed to the team’s success.

A major step came in 2019 when he transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga for around €8 million.

There, he became a standout performer, scoring regularly, including notable goals against top teams like Bayern Munich, and establishing himself as one of the league’s most effective full-backs.

In 2023, Bensebaini joined rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, signing a contract until 2027.

He has continued to deliver consistent performances in defense while adding attacking value, helping Dortmund in domestic and European competitions.

Internationally, he debuted for Algeria in 2017 and has been a mainstay, known for his leadership and defensive solidity.

    Accolades

He was part of the Algeria squad that triumphed at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, contributing to the country’s second title in the competition.

At Borussia Dortmund, he reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2024 as a runner-up.
