It is now emerging that a team of highly trained assasins led by the Dar’es-salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda trained Singida East MP Tundu Lissu and made attempts on his life.

The team which was led by a close protection officer attached to Ikulu was directed to ensure that the MP was killed as he was becoming a thorn in the flesh of Magufuli.

The team used two cars, a Nissan Patrol and white saloon car to monitor the movements of the MP in Dodoma while RC Makonda coordinated the operation from a hotel in Dodoma. Makonda arrived in Dodoma one day before the operation with the sole purpose of executing the mission.

Makonda had to leave to Morogoro and coordinate the operation from the town.

Some of the officers are close confidantes of Makonda whom he has used for other missions including the rain on Clouds Media Studio in March.

Sources within Ikulu indicate that President Magufuli is determined to eliminate any consistent voices criticising his administration. The President has continued to clamp down on free speech online, political meetings as well as mainstream media reporting on matters he doesn’t approve of.

In one scary move today, Speaker of Tanzania parliament has today threatened to ban MP Zitto Kabwe from ever speaking in the National Assembly. It makes others wonder what an MP would do in parliament if he is not allowed to speak.

Meanwhile, Tundu Lissu contracted a life-threatening chest infection at Nairobi’s Aga Khan hospital. The MP who is undergoing treatment at the same facility was in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) where he contracted the infection.

He is expected to fully recover soon.
