Rishabh Rajendra Pant is an Indian international cricketer known for his aggressive left-handed batting and skilled wicket-keeping.
Born on 4 October 1997 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, into a Kumaoni Brahmin family, he has emerged as one of the most dynamic players in modern cricket.
Representing the Indian national team across formats, he also plays domestic cricket for Delhi and has featured prominently in the Indian Premier League, initially with the Delhi Capitals and later as a high-profile signing for the Lucknow Super Giants.

Rishabh has one sibling, an elder sister named Sakshi Pant.
Born on 24 September 1995, she is approximately two years older than her brother.
Sakshi has built an independent life away from the intense spotlight of cricket, settling in the United Kingdom where she completed an MBA from the University of Hertfordshire and works with the National Pharmacy Association.
She maintains an active presence on social media, sharing aspects of her personal and professional life with a substantial following.
In March 2025, Sakshi married her longtime partner, Ankit Chaudhary, in a traditional celebration held in Mussoorie, an event that brought the family together in a moment of joy.
Career
Pant’s cricketing path began in earnest when his mother regularly accompanied him from Roorkee to Delhi for specialized training at the Sonnet Cricket Club under coach Tarak Sinha.

He rose through the age-group ranks and featured for India in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, where he impressed with aggressive batting that included the then-fastest fifty in the tournament’s history.
He made his first-class debut for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy in 2015 and entered the Indian Premier League in 2016 with the Delhi Daredevils, later rebranded as Delhi Capitals.
Internationally, Pant debuted in T20Is against England in February 2017, followed by his Test debut against England at Trent Bridge in August 2018, where he became the first Indian to open his account in the format with a six.
His ODI debut came later that year against the West Indies.
Pant’s career is marked by standout innings such as his unbeaten 159 in Sydney during the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and a courageous unbeaten 89 at the Gabba in Brisbane in 2021 that helped India secure a historic series victory in Australia.
He has captained Delhi Capitals in the IPL and led India in T20Is, while also contributing to major tournament successes including the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
A serious car accident in December 2022 interrupted his progress, but his determined rehabilitation and return to international cricket underscored his mental fortitude and physical recovery.

In 2019, Pant received the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award for 2018, acknowledging his rapid rise.
He became the inaugural recipient of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for January 2021 following his decisive performances in Australia.
Pant was named in the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year and has been celebrated for individual milestones such as becoming the fastest batter to reach 100 sixes in Test cricket and holding the record for the most sixes by an Indian in the format.
His inclusion in India’s triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy squads added team silverware to his list of achievements.
He was nominated for the Laureus World Comeback of the Year award in recognition of his recovery from the 2022 accident and subsequent return to form, and he has also been named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year.
In the IPL, Pant achieved the distinction of becoming the most expensive player in auction history when acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore, reflecting both his on-field value and market appeal.
