President Uhuru Kenyatta on 11 December conferred presidential awards to Kenyans in recognition of their outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.
On this year’s list are; ministers, academicians, athletes, business community, artistes et al.
Making the prestigious list is Blogger Robert Alai who also doubles up as a cyber activist. Alai as many would describe him, is the voice of the voiceless.
Mr Alai, a critic of both the opposition and the ruling regime, runs Techmtaa.com, a weblog that entertains and vilifies public officials in equal measure.
Also on the list are; Citizen Tv’s Jackie Maribe, Blogger Pauline Njoroge, Gospel artiste Ben Githae, Gukena FM’s Njogu Njoroge, Dennis Itumbi, Boxing sensation Fatuma Zarika and Hellen Nkaissery.

Other state awards and honours in Kenya are: Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, Order of the Burning Spear, Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya, Distinguished Conduct Order, Distinguished Service Medal and Silver Star of Kenya.
