Rory Darge Siblings: All About Arron and Harris Darge

Rory Neil Benjamin Darge is a Scottish professional rugby union player born on 23 February 2000 in Edinburgh.

He plays primarily as a flanker, capable of operating at openside or number eight, for United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors and the Scotland national team, where he has served as co-captain and later as sole captain on tours.

Raised in the East Lothian area around North Berwick and Aberlady, he attended North Berwick High School and came through the local rugby club before progressing through the Scottish Rugby Academy.

He is known for his high work rate, breakdown expertise, tackling intensity, and ball-carrying ability.

Siblings

Rory has two younger brothers. Arron Darge, born around 2003-2004, pursued football rather than rugby.

He came through the Heart of Midlothian academy, represented Scotland at under-16 level, spent time on loan at clubs such as Gala Fairydean Rovers, and later joined Cove Rangers in the SPFL.

Arron has spoken about the family’s sporting mix and how Rory’s success has drawn more of the household toward rugby, while noting that Rory was never particularly skilled with a football at his feet.

The youngest brother, Harris Darge, is several years younger still and has followed a rugby path as a fly-half.

He has played for North Berwick High School and club sides, earned regional representative honours with Borders and East Lothian, and has been selected for academy festivals.

Career

Darge began his structured rugby journey through North Berwick RFC and the Scottish Rugby Academy.

He signed his first professional contract in 2019 with Super 6 side Southern Knights, where he was named youth player of the year, and also featured for Melrose.

He made a brief appearance for Edinburgh Rugby in the United Rugby Championship before transferring to Glasgow Warriors in 2021.

At Scotstoun he quickly established himself as a regular in the back row, contributing to the club’s 2023/24 BKT United Rugby Championship title win, including starts in the playoffs.

Internationally, he earned 13 caps for Scotland Under-20s, captaining the side in the 2020 Six Nations, before making his senior Scotland debut against Wales in the 2022 Six Nations.

He scored his first Test try against France later that championship and featured in all of Scotland’s matches at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

He was named co-captain alongside Finn Russell for the 2024 Six Nations and has continued in leadership roles, including as sole captain on summer tours.

By mid-2026 he had accumulated more than 40 Scotland caps and a substantial number of appearances for Glasgow, with whom he signed a contract extension running into 2028.

Accolades

In his first full season with Glasgow Warriors, Darge collected a hat-trick of club awards: McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season, Denholm Energy Services Players’ Player of the Season, and Harper Macleod Test Player of the Season.

He later earned selection in the BKT United Rugby Championship Elite XV.

At international level his rapid rise led to co-captaincy of Scotland while still in his early twenties, recognition as one of Europe’s leading openside flankers, and inclusion in discussions around British and Irish Lions contention.
