iPad is getting competition all round. Microsoft, RIM and Samsung all jumped into the Tablet bandwagon even after so much criticising Steve Jobs. Jobs said that tablets is the way to go and many of the competitors launching the products now said that they didnt believe that PC users needs something which is between PCs and netbooks.
Anyway, they all are making their products and the good news to users in Kenya is that we might be getting Galaxy Tab in two weeks. We might be getting the device on our hands by 15th if Customs dont delay the clearing. That is from a source at Samsung local office.
The Galaxy Tab is a 7-inch slate built to complete with the current tablet king, Apple’s unchallenged iPad.
In brief, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is smaller and lighter though rumours are that Samsung might be making some bigger versions. It has the same speed processor as an iPad but twice the RAM. Just like the iPad, the Galaxy Tab comes with different options for internal storage. It supports up to 32GB of expandable storage while iPad is limited to the internal space only.
The Galaxy Tab has a rear-facing 3.2-megapixel camera and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video chatting while the current models of the iPad have none. Samsung claims up to 7 hours of video playback for the Galaxy Tab and Apple says its iPad can last up to 10 hours.
The Galaxy Tab’s Android 2.2 operating system gives the device a number of selling points Apple’s iPad can’t claim, including full-featured multitasking, support for Adobe Flash, and unrestricted access to applications. Apple is notorious for censoring anything from politics to bikini clad mamas. Apple has also banned apps that provide functions such as free wi-fi tethering and customization of the operating system.
