Gor Mahia forward George “BlackBerry” Odhiambo has cleared the air over claims that he snubbed Harambee Stars call up saying he was injured.

He has also dispelled rumors that he is among ringleaders within Gor Mahia, who organize strikes and go slows.

Berry was among a provisional squad of 38 players who coach Sebastien Migne called to camp for the 2019 Afcon qualifier against Ghana last month.

However, he was among three notable players including Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama and goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch who did not show up.

“I told them that I could not make it because I had a thigh injury. Dylan Kerr (Gor Mahia coach), told the national team coach the same even before we left Algeria,” Berry told Kahawa Tungu.

He added; “When I reached home I also found my child very sick and so there was no way I could leave a sick child home and go to camp. Family is everything in life.”

Berry has also refuted claims that he is among a group of players within Gor Mahia that incited the rest to strike over August salary delay.

“When players decide to strike it’s always a collective decision. Why should I be the one leading a strike when I’m just an ordinary player who follow rules?” he posed.

“If I have a problem, I call the chairman directly on his number,” he added.
