Two young children who were critically injured in a violent domestic incident in Tigania East, Meru County, died while receiving treatment.

The minors—eight-year-old and three-year-old Nova Jay—succumbed to severe head injuries at Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Authorities say the injuries were allegedly inflicted by their father during an incident reported on April 10, 2026.

The suspect is reported to have died by suicide shortly after the attack.

The tragic development was confirmed by Thubuku Location Chief Bartholomew Mwika.

The bodies of the two minors have been preserved at the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.

Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

Meanwhile, two men died following a drowning incident at Seka Beach along Lake Victoria in Rachuonyo North Sub-County, Homa Bay County.

The incident occurred earlier in the day at Seka Beach Village.

Police officers responded to the scene and recovered the bodies of two adult males identified as Julius Odhiambo Olenyo, 32, and Joseph Odhiambo Omondi, 48.

A preliminary examination of the bodies showed no visible physical injuries, although both had swollen stomachs, consistent with drowning.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators, and the bodies were later moved to Gendia Adventist Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted.

And ok lice in Makueni County are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man whose body was found near a river in Mukaa Sub-County.

According to police, the incident was reported after a body was discovered at Nzai Village, about six kilometres east of the station.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Christopher Wambua Kituku lying on the banks of Kwa Muswii River.

Preliminary observations indicated the deceased had injuries on the back, believed to have been caused by a fall.

Police also noted that the man had a known history of epilepsy, which is being considered as a possible factor in the incident.

The body was moved to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

    Investigations are ongoing.
