Detectives are hunting for a gang that raided the Elmarba Full Gospel Missionary Church in Kajiado and robbed a Korean couple of valuables and cash.

The gang went to the facility on Monday morning while armed with crude weapons, police said.

They first gained entry to the church by cutting the window grills and found the two missionaries aged 64 and 60.

Jongo Kim, 64 and Young Me Kim, 60 are a couple and missionaries.

Police said they tied the victims on their hands using manila ropes, ransacked the house and managed to steal four mobile phones, a wrist watch, two laptops, a gold necklace, one bracelet, one solar charger, Sh2,500 and USD20.

The assailants further transferred Sh248,000 from the M-pesa account of Jongo Kim and Sh12,000 from the M-pesa of Young Me Kim.

The robbers also took away the CCTV hard drive before escaping to an unknown destination.

During the incident, the victims sustained bruises on their hands, police said.

One black torch was recovered at the scene. Police said they are pursuing good leads into the attack.

A team visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident and announced they were pursuing good leads into the same.

Police believe the gang knew about the operations of the couple before stating the attack.

The embassy in Nairobi was informed about the attack as a formality amid probe into the same, police said.
