A 40-year-old woman was electrocuted in an incident in Hamza area, Buruburu, Nairobi.

The victim identified as Dorothy Ochieng is said to have touched a metal gate that was being welded.

A welder was busy at the site constructing a mabati kiosk when the woman, oblivious of the dangers, touched it.

She was electrocuted and died on the spot. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police arrived at the scene and stated investigations into the incident had been launched.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the December 30 incident.

Elsewhere in Villa, Embakasi area, a 23-year-old man collapsed and died after alighting from a matatu.

The victim identified as Collins Wamaitha had been to hospital after he complained of chest pain. He went to Mbagathi Hospital where he was treated and discharged. He then took a matatu to his house in the Villa area while in the company of his neighbour.

After they alighted from a matatu at Bakhita bus stop, the victim collapsed and died. Police were later informed he had on December 28 been assaulted by unknown people.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Police said based on the medical reports recovered from the victim, they are investigating murder.

The police were pursuing the said assailants for grilling.

Meanwhile, a suspect was lynched by a mob after a robbery incident along Menelik and Kilimani Road junction.

The victim is said to have been riding on a motorcycle and had snatched a mobile phone from a pedestrian when an alarm was raised alerting a mob.

Two other accomplices who were on the motorcycle managed to escape on foot after abandoning it.

The man was killed on the spot before police arrived there to pick up his body to the mortuary.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.
