The deceased, identified as Sharon Mwende, is said to have been living with her husband in a single mabati house.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had a domestic dispute on the night of April 9 at around 10:00 p.m., which was reportedly resolved by a neighbor.

The husband reportedly claimed that he had woken up to find his wife hanging from the rooftop with a leso tied around her neck, and that he cut her down.
He is said to have assumed she was unconscious due to alcohol consumption and did not seek immediate medical attention.
The situation persisted until around 6:00 a.m. when he alerted the neighbor again, who confirmed that Sharon had died.
Police noted that the deceased had slight bruises on her right hand, raising further suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her death.
By the time authorities arrived at the scene, the husband had fled to an unknown location.
Efforts to trace and arrest him are ongoing.
The scene was processed by crime scene investigators, and the body was moved to Embu County Level Five Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
