They say when it rains it pours and no player can best understand this than Rwanda’s Rayon Sports defensive midfielder Yannick Mukunzi.
The 22-year-old Rwanda international had a week to forget.
Yannick’s troubled week started Thursday when he was handed a three-match ban by CAF for involving himself in a fracas that ensued after their game away to USM Alger in the Confederation Cup.
He was also slapped with a hefty Ksh.1 million fine by the disciplinary committee of the Africa’s football body based in Cairo, Egypt.
As if that was not enough, on Sunday, he scored a beautiful penalty but his side lost 3-1 on post-match penalty to Mukura Victory Sports in the Rwanda Cup also known as “Peace Cup.”
The loss means Rayon, who failed to defend their Rwandan Premier League title to bitter rivals APR, will miss continental football as Mukura will represent the country in the Confederation Cup next.
At the blow of the final whistle, Yannick, who is one of the team’s leading lights, could not hide his tears.

Rayon travel to Kenya this week to play Gor Mahia in the Confederation Cup Group D match scheduled for Sunday at Kasarani Stadium and Mukunzi will miss the trip.
Gor top the group on 8 eight points and a win will book them a historic place in the quarterfinals of the continental showpiece.
