The Selection Panel for the appointment of the Chairperson and Members of the National Land Commission (NLC) has released the names of shortlisted candidates.

According to the schedule, ten candidates will be interviewed for the position of Chairperson on Wednesday, October 1, and Thursday, October 2, 2025.

On the first day, the panel will interview five candidates: Dr. Rebecca Kavutha Mutia from Kitui, Dr. Abdikadir Oman Aden from Garissa, Gilbert William Opanga from Vihiga, Monicah Nanyumuk Chentrich from Nakuru, and Abuga Kennedy Kaunda from Kisii.

On the second day, interviews will feature Nelly Karimi Mbugua from Meru, Prof. Saeed Mutua Mwangi from Kitui, Dr. Justa Wavinya Mwangi (PWD) from Embu, Dr. Abdillahi Sagaf Alawy from Kwale, and Dr. Humphrey Kimani Njuguna from Murang’a.

The panel said the shortlist followed a review of applications received after a public call was issued on August 27, 2025.

In addition, 51 other applicants have been shortlisted for the eight positions of NLC members. Their interviews will take place on October 3, October 6 to October 9, and later on October 13 and 14, 2025.

Members of the public who may have objections to any of the shortlisted candidates have until September 30, 2025, to submit their concerns.

“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to the Secretary/CEO via email nlc2025@publicservice.go.ke or hand delivered to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission situated on the 4th floor Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on or before 30th September, 2025,” the Selection Panel said in a notice.
