Samsung Electronics is not only unleashing the Waves and Galaxies into the market. The mobile phone manufacturer is also into CSR. Under the program Samsung Real Dreams will be graduating another batch of 180 Young Women from the slums of Nairobi, on Thursday 9th December, 2010, at the African Centre for Women, Information and Communications Technology (ACWICT) offices in Kileleshwa.
The Samsung Real Dreams program is done in collaboration with ACWICT and seeks to improve employment and economic prospects for 360 young women, ages 18-35 years residing in the informal settlements in Kenya by equipping them with marketable skills for relatively new- level positions in Kenya including those as IT technicians, marketers, network system administrators as well as customer service and administrative back-office personnel.
In a country where the growth of the ICT sector is phenomenal, ACWICT  is providing quality technical training to over 336 under-served young women with 206 of them having undergone internships or placed in quality jobs with an increasing number being linked to exciting employment opportunities under the innovative employability program.
The Samsung Real Dreams program is a partnership led by Samsung and the International Youth Foundation (IYF) to increase economic activity in Africa by promoting job skills and preparing youth for successful, long-term careers. The program has been running since 2009, aiming to empower over 4,500 young people in the African region with the right opportunities, tools and training needed to realize their dreams.
