Kindiki Urges 12 UDA Aspirants In Baringo Senate Race To Agree On Flagbearer

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has asked the 12 aspirants eyeing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the upcoming Baringo Senate by-election to agree on how the party’s flagbearer will be chosen.

Speaking after meeting Baringo MPs, Kindiki said the aspirants had pledged to support whoever emerges as the party candidate.

“The options are party primaries or consensus, at the discretion of the aspirants. The party will adopt the modalities arrived at by all the aspirants and will ensure free and fair primaries if that is the route to be agreed on,” he said.

Early this month, Kindiki assured Baringo residents that UDA will conduct transparent nominations that reflect the will of voters.

He urged aspirants to maintain peace during campaigns and assured those who lose that they would not be left out of government opportunities.

“We will come here to campaign for the one who will win, and the losers will not be discarded without any support,” he added.

The Deputy President spoke at the Baringo North Economic Empowerment forum in Kabartonjo, where he called on residents to rally behind the eventual UDA candidate in the by-election.

The Senate seat fell vacant following the death of Senator William Cheptumo earlier this year.
