The Jubilee Party has appointed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i as its Deputy Party Leader and endorsed him as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election.

The decision was made during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on October 30. The move confirms earlier statements by Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, who had said the party would support Matiang’i for the top seat.

Speaking after the meeting, Kioni said the council had unanimously approved Matiang’i’s application to run for president under the Jubilee ticket.

“We have officially received and endorsed Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s presidential application, and the NEC has resolved that he will be our flagbearer,” Kioni said.
“Dr. Fred Matiang’i will also serve as our Deputy Party Leader moving forward.”

He added that the NEC meeting also discussed reorganizing the party and strengthening its presence across the country. Kioni said the party will now begin reconnecting with its supporters at the grassroots level.

“We deliberated on critical issues of structure and strategy that will guide the party’s next phase. Our focus now shifts to revitalizing Jubilee by opening branches, reconnecting with our members, and attracting new ones,” he said, noting that the party will announce a series of activities soon.

The meeting also made several leadership changes. Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama was appointed as the party’s National Assembly Whip, while Senator James Lomenen will serve as the Senate Whip.

Dr. Matiang’i, who previously held senior government positions including Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government, is expected to lead the party’s campaign as it seeks to rebuild its national influence ahead of the 2027 polls.
