Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at President William Ruto following recent attacks over development issues.

In a statement released to the media on Friday, the Wiper Patriotic Front accused President Ruto of unfairly targeting Kalonzo, especially over infrastructure development.

President Ruto had earlier questioned Kalonzo’s development record, claiming that even the road leading to his home is not tarmacked, and therefore he could not deliver development to other Kenyans.

However, Wiper dismissed the claims, saying President Ruto was misleading the public. The party said the President is now taking credit for projects he allegedly stalled or sabotaged while in government.

Wiper further described Ruto’s time in office as one of the most difficult periods since independence and accused him of failing to deliver on his promises to Kenyans.

The party claimed the attacks on Kalonzo are politically motivated, arguing that President Ruto is worried about losing power in the 2027 General Election.

“His attacks on Kalonzo Musyoka are not about development. They are a desperate attempt by a failing president who sees defeat coming and is trying to reclaim opposition strongholds before Kenyans remove him from office in 2027,” the statement read.

Wiper also defended Kalonzo’s development record, noting that he launched several infrastructure projects while serving as Vice President.

Among them is the Kibwezi–Mutomo–Kitui–Bondoni Road, which the party said Kalonzo officially launched on March 29, 2011.
