The ODM Council of County Coordinating Chairs (COCC) has asked the party’s Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, to present a status report on the implementation of the Ten-Point Agenda before the March 26, 2026 deadline.
The call comes as the party prepares for possible negotiations with other political parties ahead of the 2027 General Election. Recently, senior ODM leaders approved a decision allowing party leader Oburu Odinga to begin talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a statement issued on Monday, the county chairs said any negotiations should not proceed before the Ten-Point Agenda is fully implemented. They said this was in line with the wishes of the party’s late leader, Raila Odinga.
“In honor of our departed Party Leader, we call for the full and proper implementation of the Ten-Point Agenda and that no further agreements or arrangements be entered into before the agenda is fully implemented,” the statement read.
The chairs also reminded party members of Raila Odinga’s public directive made on September 22, 2025, where he said ODM should remain a distinct political party and field candidates at all levels, including a presidential candidate, in the 2027 elections.
They further raised concerns over recent internal disagreements within the party and what they described as troubling revelations about the handling of the 2022 presidential election. According to the statement, there were claims of mismanagement of funds meant for party agents, a situation they said appeared to have been repeated during the recent ODM@20 celebrations in Mombasa, where some delegates were reportedly left stranded due to lack of funds.
The COCC called for a full audit of the 2022 presidential election finances to avoid similar problems in the 2027 polls.
“We urge our party leaders and members to remain focused and united ahead of the 2027 elections and not to allow infiltration or interference from outsiders or competitors, including sections of UDA, who are publicly interfering with ODM’s internal affairs,” the statement said.
They also appealed for respect for all constitutional party offices and organs, saying officials should be allowed to carry out their duties without intimidation or interference.
