    Early Life

Taeyeon was born Kim Tae-yeon on March 9, 1989, in Jeonju. She developed a passion for singing at a young age and began taking professional vocal lessons while still in middle school.

She studied at SM Academy in Seoul, where she trained under singer The One. In 2004, Taeyeon won the SM Youth Best Competition, which led to her signing a contract with SM Entertainment.

After several years of training, she debuted in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation, a group that would later become one of the most influential acts in K-pop history.

    Success with Girls’ Generation

As the leader and main vocalist of Girls’ Generation, Taeyeon helped the group achieve massive commercial success across Asia and internationally. The group released numerous hit albums, including Oh!, The Boys, I Got a Boy, and Lion Heart, many of which topped South Korean music charts.

Girls’ Generation also recorded several chart-topping singles such as Oh!, Run Devil Run, I Got a Boy, and Mr.Mr..

The group later expanded internationally with Japanese releases and global tours, helping introduce K-pop to wider international audiences.
