Ride-hailing company Bolt has dismissed as fake a document circulating online claiming that the company plans to cease operations in Kenya from June 8, 2026.

In a statement issued on June 1, 2026, Bolt said the purported notice being shared on social media and messaging platforms did not originate from the company or any of its authorised representatives.

“We wish to categorically state that this document is FAKE and did not originate from Bolt Kenya or any of its authorised representatives,” said Bolt Senior General Manager for East Africa, Dimmy Kanyankole.

The company reaffirmed that its Kenyan operations remain fully functional and that it is still committed to serving customers and driver-partners across the country.

“We wish to categorically state that this document is FAKE,” the company said, adding that investigations are underway to establish the source of the fabricated communication and that action will be taken against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.

Bolt further assured stakeholders that it continues to focus on delivering safe, reliable and innovative transport services while creating economic opportunities in Kenya.

The firm also urged members of the public to ignore the viral document and avoid sharing unverified information online.

It advised customers and driver-partners to rely only on updates issued through Bolt’s official website, verified social media pages and the Bolt app.
