The Kenya National Police Service has given notice on roads likely to be affected ahead of Global United Nations conference scheduled for this week in Gigiri, Nairobi.
The conference brings together over 4,700 delegates including heads of states, ministers, business leaders, senior UN officials and civil society representatives.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and French President Emmanuel Macron, will lead the meet expected to run from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15.
Due to the large delegation expected,NPS has announced that the roads likely to be affected by the planned traffic disruptions are Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Limuru Road.
“We wish to inform the public that owing to the presence of several Heads of State and Governments visiting the country to attend the United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA) as well as the 3rd One Planet Assembly at UN Complex in Gigiri from 13th to 15th March 2019.
“….. traffic arrangements have been made that could impact on normal traffic flow in the city,” read a statement from NPS.
NPS urged motorists to adhere to the directions given.
“We therefore request motorists to obey directions given by Traffic Police in order to allow our esteemed visitors safe passage to and from various locations in the city,” NPS said.

The summit will see the delegates figure out new policies, technologies and innovative solutions to combat global warming.
“Bold decisions and outcomes are expected as the delegates negotiate late into the night over five days. Resolutions are on the table to push harder for sustainable consumption and production patterns, commit to the protection of the marine environment from plastic pollution, reduce food waste, and advance technological innovation that combats climate change, and reduces resource use and biodiversity loss,” reads a statement from the UN.
