I’m Coming Whether You Like It Or Not – Asamoah Gyan Responds To Critic Over Black Stars Return

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has responded to a critic of his recent return to the national team saying “I’m coming back whether you like it or not.”

Gyan leads group of ten players who are making a comeback to the Black Stars after a while in the cold ahead of back to back 2019 Afcon qualifiers against Sierra Leone next week.

The names were revealed Monday by the head coach Kwesi Appiah, eliciting sharp reactions over its composition.

Ghanaian journalist, Michael Oti Adjei, argued in a story published on Kwese Sports that Appiah “is hosting a returnee’s party” and is showing signs of panic and indecision following 1-0 loss to Kenya in their last qualifier.

Michael was even more particular with Gyan, who according to him was recalled “based on past successes rather than actual performance.”

This did not go down well with “Baby Jet” who responded on twitter; “Keep writing, because it is your opinion. At the end of the day, I’m coming whether you like it or not. You started this agenda since last week so it’s not new to me,” the Turkey-based striker tweeted in reply to the story.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals. He is also Africa’s leading marksman at the World Cup with six goals.

“It is not personal Asamoah. It is strictly business. As it has always been,” Michael responded but Gyan hit back again saying, “Last time you wrote and I quote ‘what to do with Gyan.’ That sounds disrespectful but I ignored. I have respected you all these years but…”

Other notable names who did not feature against Kenya but have been drafted in the latest squad includes Bernard Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Mubarak Wakaso and John Boye.
