More than 100 MPs belonging to the Jubilee Party will not be remitting their monthly subscription fees, National Assembly clerk Michael Sialai said. Speaking to the Star, Sialai said the legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto wrote to him demanding that their monies be directed to other accounts. Uganda has restored access to the internet, almost a month after the government shut it down. “Internet and social media services have been fully restored. Kieni MP Kanini Kega has claimed that Jubilee party members allied to Deputy President William Ruto have resolved to stop remitting monthly subscription fees. A man who chopped off his wife’s hands in 2016 has been handed a 30-year jail sentence. Stephen Ngila appeared on Tuesday before Machakos Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Brenda Bartoo for his sentencing. Ngila has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
