DCI sleuths have arrested a man said to have sent life threatening messages to senate majority whip and Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata. The man, identified as Michael Chege Bunyi, was arrested in Mirera, Ruiru, Kiambu county. Bunyi, DCI said, is aged between 27 and 30. Kin of brutally murdered Kiambu family have requested for security after two thugs allegedly tried to steal money meant for burial. The Nairobi county assembly can vet deputy governor nominee Anne Kananu after the high court dismissed petitions filed by activist Okiya Omtatah and Habil Kongo. Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga reckons he made a mistake appointing Caroline Karugu as his deputy. The High Court has issued an order suspending a Gazette notice calling for the by-election of the Nairobi governor post, for the second time. The order was issued on Thursday by Justice Anthony Mrima on Thursday following an application filed by deputy governor nominee, Anne Kananu. Lawyer Elizabeth Koki’s househelp has shed light on the events that led to the discovery of the former’s remains at their Syokimau home. Senate majority whip Irungu Kang’ata has declined to withdraw a letter on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report. The infamous letter was addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta through CS without portfolio and Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju. A Kisii High School student who stabbed two teachers has been released on a Sh50,000 cash bail. The 17-year-old student was freed after denying stabbing the teachers. The teenager was arrested on Tuesday after leaving the victims with serious injuries. He had allegedly been asked to kneel at the staffroom for reporting to class late. Lawyer Elizabeth Koki died of suffocation, Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has revealed. According to the pathologist, the deceased also suffered bruises on the mouth consistent with a gag. “She was suffocated to death,” Dr Oduor’s report read in part. Nairobi county deputy governor nominee Anne Kananu has claimed that ousted county chief Mike Sonko was behind a petition blocking her from being vetted by the county assembly. In her response to a case filed by activist Okiya Omtatah seeking to block her from appearing before the assembly on Friday, Kananu says Sonko sponsored Peter Agoro’s petition. A trailer on Wednesday morning plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni crossing channel, reports indicate.  According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the trailer lost control of the vehicle as he tried to get into the ferry. The trailer which was headed to Mombasa from Tanzania was transporting an unknown quantity of maize. The accident caused a huge traffic snarl-up. A Kenya Air Force aircraft, model Harbin Y-12, on Tuesday crashed at the Tsavo East National Park, in Voi, Taita Taveta County. Harbin Y-12 or Yunshuji-12 is a twin-engine light multi-role aircraft designed and developed by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (HAMC) of China.
