The late Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama will be accorded a state funeral with burial plans being led by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Kisii Governor James Ongwae. A statement from the Office of the President indicated that Gusii leaders met and unanimously agreed to have the two lead the plans. “They resolved to form an Ad-hoc Committee that will steer the programme in liaison with his family,” the statement read. Kenya on Friday recorded 356 new Covid-19 infections from a 5,768 sample size. Speaking in Murang’a county, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the country’s caseload has in the last 24 hours risen to 93,761. In the same period, 11 other patients have succumbed to the virus bringing the death toll to 1,629. According to the CS, 852 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals across the country and the Home Based Care and Isolation. Police on Thursday night gunned down two thugs stealing from unsuspecting pedestrians along Manyanja Road. Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has succumbed to Covid-19, family has confirmed. The county boss, 74, was placed on life support at the Nairobi hospital on Sunday where he had been receiving treatment for three weeks after contracting the virus. Mobile money users will starting January 2021 no longer send Sh1000 or less for free. In a statement, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) said providers will reinstate sending fees but will not charge for transactions below Sh100. “Following consultations with Payment Service Providers (PSPs), CBK will allow the emergency measures to expire on December 31, 2020,” CBK said. A Nigerian man who was two weeks ago arrested and Sh100 million confiscated at JKIA has moved to court to reclaim his money. Mauzu Bala has claimed that the government is only interested in seizing the money as he is yet to be charged with any offence. A Maua, Meru magistrates court has jailed Ethiopians found in Kenya illegally for six months. The 10 aliens were given the option of paying a Sh100,000 fine, each in a bid to secure their freedom. According to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), platforms such as YouTube are being used to publish, disseminate, and/or broadcast content that goes against the Uganda Communications Act of 2013 and Regulation 8 (2) of the Uganda Communications (Content) Regulation 2019.
