President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday extended the dawn to dusk curfew for a further 60 days. The nationwide curfew runs from 4 am until 10 pm. Addressing the nation from State House, the head of state exempted essential workers from the curfew. Manufacturing companies will be allowed to run the night shift, he said. Tecra Muigai could have suffered a blow to the head by a blunt object causing her death, government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has said. In an autopsy report, Dr Oduor dismissed earlier reports that the Keroche Breweries Strategy and Innovation director fell down a flight of stairs. Omar Lali used to physically abuse the late Keroche Breweries heiress Tecra Muigai, her house help told a Nairobi court on Thursday. Anne Waithera told trial magistrate Zainab Abdul that she started working for the deceased in 2019 after leaving her job at a Naivasha hotel. She and Tecra sparked a friendship that led to her employment as her house help at her Naivasha home, the court heard. A Nairobi court has summoned Tecra Muigai’s lover Omar Lali and six others to testify in the ongoing inquest into her death. A Tanzanian court on Wednesday sentenced 26 Kenyans to a year in jail or pay a fine of Sh23,641 (Tsh500,000). Rombo District Court acting resident magistrate Baraka Kibululu convicted the Kenyan nationals for entering the East African country without permits and passports. Former Somalia president Ali Mahdi Muhammad, 82, has died at a Nairobi hospital after contracting Covid-19, Somalia Information ministry spokesperson Ismael Omar has confirmed. A General Service Unit officer based at Chepchoina Camp, Trans Nzoia on Tuesday evening randomly shot his two colleagues and later taking his own life. The deceased officer has been identified as constable Paul Kuria Kinyanjui. Kuria shot himself through the lower jaw using his AK47 rifle, killing himself on the spot.
