Traders operating along the busy Ronald Ngala street on Wednesday suffered huge losses after the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) brought down their structures. The traders complained that they had not been served with a vacate notice prior to the destruction of property. Some told a local daily that their goods had been moved to a Dagoretti warehouse while other items were taken to General Stores Yard along Race Course road. Police have denied claims of planned chaos in UDA stronghold areas in London Ward ahead of Thursday by-election. Area OCPD Samson Gathuku has said that police are in a neutral party and will only be present to keep the peace. He dared Kihika to produce evidence to back her allegations and take legal action. National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) will resume direct flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Charles De Gaulle (CDG), France, starting March 17. “KQ will continue to offer its customers competitive fares and a one-stop connection through its hub in Nairobi to the rest of Kenya and Africa including key destinations in Africa such as Kinshasa, Moroni, Entebbe, Johannesburg, and Antananarivo,” KQ said on Tuesday. Soy MP Caleb Kositany will challenge his removal as deputy secretary-general of the Jubilee Party. The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) on Tuesday informed a Nairobi court that they could not comply with a court order issued on Monday. Appearing before magistrate Peter Ooko, ATPU Deputy OCS Ezekiel Lulei told the court that they could not produce former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko as there exists an order from Kahawa Law Courts barring them from interrogating or removing him from hospital. Lawrence Warunge, a 22-year-old Mount Kenya University student, who confessed to killing five people in January, is still unfit to stand trial. Appearing before Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi, the prosecution said the accused is still on medication and is still mentally unfit. A rogue matatu driver that intentionally crashed into a private motorist’s vehicle has been arrested. The driver who is yet to be named was nabbed in Saturday in Thika. In a video that has since gone viral, the suspect exchanged words with the motorist before hitting the car from the side and then crashing the windshield. Police are looking for two men believed to have taken part in the murder of businesswoman Caroline Maina. The suspects were caught on CCTV camera driving in the deceased’s car on the day she was reported missing. A woman and son whose bodies were discovered at their home along Jogoo Road on Tuesday, were suffocated to death. Charity Kemboi and her 8-year-old son, Allan Kipngetich, were smothered to death. This was following an autopsy exam conducted by government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor at the Chiromo Mortuary. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is seeking the court’s permission to travel to South Africa for surgery.
