An explosion at Canada’s High Commission in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, has killed two people and injured two others, Nigerian officials say. A fire broke out when generators, containing 2,000 litres of diesel, were being serviced, a spokeswoman for Nigeria’s emergency services said. The government Tuesday warned top executives of state-owned agencies that they risk losing their jobs for failing to declare all revenues collected on the eCitizen platform. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs department at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has intercepted several prohibited and restricted items that were being ferried into the nation between July and October 2023. KRA said in the period they have intercepted 132 prohibited items and 431 restricted items in a total of 440 interceptions. The restricted items include 339 drones, seven guns, 18 toy guns, 11 magazines, eight handcuffs, 24 walkie-talkies, and 24 Vi@gra packs. A Nakuru Magistrates Court has allowed the DPP to withdraw a defilement case against Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek. Mr Kiborek was charged with violating a 15-year-old daughter of a Cabinet Secretary at a Nakuru hotel in 2018. Chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng acquitted the lawmaker for lack of witnesses. In October, the MP protested the delay in prosecuting the matter as he accused the prosecution of dragging its feet. Detectives are investigating an incident in which a police officer was found dead in a coffee plantation in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.  The body was dumped in the plantation near his homestead, police said. Police said the body of Timothy Mwangi Ciira, aged 42, had several cuts on the head. He was based in Embakasi, Nairobi. It is not clear if he was on leave or interdiction. He lived alone. Three people drowned in separate incidents reported to police on Monday. The first incident happened in Kwanza, Trans Nzoia County where the body of one George Opiya, 38 was found lying facing down in a local stream. Police said the victim was trying to cross the swollen stream when he drowned. In Kirinyaga, the body of one Samuel Kiragu, 50 was found floating in a river having been blocked by a huge stone. Six suspects have been arrested over alleged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam malpractices. The suspects were nabbed in an operation led by Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) and detectives attached to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
