National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Vice-Chairperson Fatuma Tabwara is dead. Reports indicate that Fatuma collapsed while attending her nephew’s wedding in Diani, Kwale County on Sunday. She was pronounced dead on arrival at  Diani Beach Hospital at around 10 AM. Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed was on Saturday night hospitalised after suffering stomach upset. Reports indicate that the firebrand lawmaker suffered food poisoning. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives on Saturday seized 7500 litres of illegal ethanol valued at Ksh2 million at Sultan Hamud, Makueni County. In a statement, the taxman stated that the ethanol had been concealed in a water tanker. “Upon examination, the tanker was found to be carrying 2,500 of water in an outer compartment while the second concealed compartment was discovered containing ethanol,” said KRA. “The samples were withdrawn and taken for testing at the KRA and Government chemist laboratory and the test results confirmed the consignment to be ethanol.” Read: KRA Busts 57,600…

Catherine Kirumba, the widow of former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru, is embroiled in a bitter property row with a woman identified as  Wangui Mwaura, who claims to be her co-wife. Reports indicate that Wangui, who had a baby with the deceased, is demanding a share of the late Gakuru’s estate valued at Ksh55 million. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that a section of Mbagathi Way will be closed for four days to allow for the contractor on-site to demolish the current footbridge and replace it with a modern one. The Court of Appeal has upheld Justice Mumbi Ngugi’s ruling that governors charged with graft should be barred from office. Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been impeached. 63 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted in favour of a motion to impeach Waititu on grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office. The motion was tabled by Ndenderu MCA Solomon Kinuthia. Only one MCA voted against the motion. Despite 24 ward representatives being absent, the motion met the required two-thirds majority threshold.
