Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has moved to court seeking orders to bar speaker Beatrice Elachi from assuming functions of the office of governor. National carrier, Kenya Airways, has announced that its earnings for the year ending 2019 are expected to go down by 25 per cent or more compared to earnings reported in 2018. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday failed to appear before a court in Voi, Taita Taveta County, where he was expected to answer to assault charges. Sonko’s lawyers told Voi Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Frederick Mayaka Nyakundi that the governor, who was recently admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), is still unwell. A total of 699,745 candidates who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) this year are expected to receive their results today. Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha is expected to announce the result on Wednesday morning at the Kenya National Examination Council headquarters on Dennis Pritt Road, Nairobi. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced plans to close a section of busy Thika Superhighway for three nights to pave way for erection of a footbridge. In a notice on Tuesday, KeNHA stated that the Thika Superhighway section at Mangu Road Junction (Njomoko) will be partially closed from Thursday, December 19, 2019, to Saturday, December 21, 2019. In all the three nights, the section will be closed from 11 PM to 4 AM. The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) was last week forced to issue an order compelling Eaton Towers to restore Telkom Kenya Limited (TKL) services after it switched them off over existing debt. In a press release seen by this writer, Eaton Towers suspended Telkom services on December 7 over Ksh255.6 million the network operator owes it inapplicable fees for the period September-November 2019.
